Eek so here I am at last. For literally years now I have made so many blogs, written my first post (just like this one) and deleted it before anyone got a chance to see it. I’ve not been happy with the blog theme, the title, the appearance, the list goes on and on. There was always an excuse but enough is enough!
As a student training to be a journalist, I was constantly being told to ‘get my name out there’ and that ‘a blog is essential’ for anyone hoping to have a career in journalism and if I’m honest, this put me off the idea more and more each time. I think a blog is something that should be created organically and for the love of it, rather than being told you must do it for another bullet point to sell yourself on a CV. For every blog I sat down and forced myself to create, the writing felt just that: forced. There was no passion or interest to it and that’s when I would give up and press delete over and over and over again.
However, now I think I’ve finally reached a point in life where I really want to write for the fun of it and about things that I am genuinely interested in, rather than things that I think will look good to future employers. I love never ending cups of tea and splurging on gorgeous gym clothes that are mainly worn as oh so chic loungewear, while googling quick fix diets with a snack in hand. Even though every cell in my body repulses the word, I am a certified foodie. I go to sleep planning what I will eat the next day and will happily discuss what to have for tea while eating lunch. I am a make-up and perfume junkie and whole heartedly believe that money spent on a fabulous new lipstick will never be money wasted.
So that is what I will write about, a bit of this a bit of that. I guess if you want to get technical (and I never do) you could call it a lifestyle blog but that sounds a bit WI, Good Housekeeping for my liking.
If you’re reading this then it means I’ve finally pulled my big girl pants on, tweeted a link and actually told people I have a blog so please be nice! I’m not a photographer and my WordPress skills are average at best but here goes nothing, let’s see what happens…
I can’t believe I started my first blog with eek. It’l get better I promise.
